What's Growing at the Bottom of My Neo?
4 Attachment(s)
Hi all, I'm somewhat new to Neos and have a question to those of you more experienced.
I acquired a Neofinetia falcata Kokyu in October. (Since I've noticed a lot of names for Neofinetia, I am not sure if this name means anything.) It is a single growth, ruby tip. It seems to be somewhat happy in its new home. Recently I've noticed some growths at the bottom of the fan. Can a more experienced grower tell me -- are these new growths? It's definitely fun watching these changes, but I want to make sure I'm identifying what's happening correctly to properly adjust plant care. Thank you! |
That looks like a new growth.

Looks like several new growths. Congratulations!
As far as the names go, they are varieties of Neofinetia (V) falcata. Every aspect of the plants can define a variety - different types of variegation of leaves, the pattern formed where the leaf emerges, shape of the leaf, growth habit, the color of the root tips, and so forth. Some of the characteristics can be seed-propagated, others only by division . Read through the various threads in this sub-forum, and you will gain a lot of understanding about this beautiful, variable species. |
Thank you, both, Lil Duck and Roberta. Very reassuring. Roberta, thanks for the advice. It does seem worth reading a lot more. I’ve really enjoyed my Neos and would love to learn a lot more.
