cattleya cernua, formerly sophronitis cernua
1 Attachment(s)
cute (less than 1 inch size) little cattleya, took it out of shade house and 2 blooms were promptly pollinated by something... mounted on a small piece of tree fern, would not be alive in my care if it was potted.

It's a great little species. I have only grown it mounted, and it seems to do really well that way. I have noticed that it does sometimes get pollinated, maybe a hummingbird taking a taste, or else just a selfing (which happens a lot)

In South Florida climate I had just put the aclandiae, and cernua,in bare baskets and then could still over watered and they dried fairly quickly without consequence. In North Fla I mount these plants to a piece tree fern and hang them up high. |
I see you are in Florida.
In my case that's the opposite. If mounted, it will dry (plant also :)). |
These are really pretty.
