Hi!
we’ve remained like this for a LONG time.
she grew those newer roots.
she’s trying to grow leaf, but either stopped or SUPER slow.
???

It's very wrinkled. Not enough water for a long time. The roots are healthy.

The pot looks too big for that plant. The medium looks good. I would repot into a smaller pot that just holds the roots. Make sure as many of the roots as possible are in the medium.

I don't know how often you've been watering. In a home, with that medium, once every 3-7 days might be enough depending on the temperature.

temp is cool.

i will go smaller pot, now.

i removed the hollow mush roots.
question: can you cut half the length of a mushy root and will it grow again from the “solid”half?

???

small enough, or should i go to small plastic cup? (with holes)

How cool is your house?

I would not have cut off any roots. Sometimes roots grow again and sometimes not.

With so few roots I would repot now to a much smaller pot.

ok then.

65°f - 74°f
i like it cold.

you see I thought that since they could grow on the side of trees and rocks, then the roots didn’t really have to be under anything. But that’s a discussion for another day or never in my case. 😹

also, I fear that smaller pots will keep it too wet when 65° and I will end up with damaged roots and black roots like I did a year or so ago when I had to cut it all down and even cut off some of the core which I shouldn’t have done. We seem to have recovered from that, but we’re just not getting very far. So I ***finally*** posted.

thank you!

I (also) would not have cut off any of those roots, but too late now.
I strongly suggest you try a heat mat on a thermostat. I don't think Phals like it at your temps as much as you do. I'd set the temp on the mat around 80 degrees.
It looks very dry to me. I'd warm it up, then water a lot more, see how it responds.

Hi, thank you.
Like a propagation heat mat?
most are so much bigger than i need.:(

hey there,

well, if u buy a couple more phals, a standard seedling heat mat would be the perfect size
:cheer:
