Orchids with large flowers relative to the size of the plant.

Hello all,

I am writing a feature for my newsletter about orchids with flowers that are very big compared to the size of the plant.

So far, I plan to include:
  1. Some species from the Cattleya family such as Cattleya mossiae, labiata, trianae, dowiana, coccinea, and schilleriana.
  2. Some Angraecums such as infundibulare, stella-africae, dollii/elephantinum, and didieri.
  3. Masdevallias coccinea and datura.
  4. Dendrobium loddigesii and moniliforme.
  5. Bulbophyllum echinolabium and medusae.
  6. Paph. micranthum and armeniacum.

I want to cover most of the alliances and also have the best and most extreme examples. Ideally some miniatures also. Are there any notable species I am missing or are there some I have on the list that do not belong?

Thank you.

Considering you want to include miniatures, I'll state the obvious: Dendrobium hakouense! https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-ookf...653719.jpg?c=2

Many of the Angraecoids/Vandadeous group have a good flower-to-plant ratio, such as Angcm. magdelaneae. But Certachilus biglandulosus has them all beat... flower bigger than the plant, name bigger than both Or how about Angraecum urschianum. Dendroibum papilio , Or many of the Draculas such as Drac. roezlii or Drac. woolwardii. In the Cattleya tribe, C. jongheana, C. sincorana, C. pumila all meet the criterion (actually, the whole Hadrolaelia group) And the Leptotes also all have a good flower-to-plant ratio.

Thank you so much. I will research these further.

Sorry, I misspelled my favorite... Ceratochilus biglandulosus.

Thank you both. I will put a small thank you/acknowledgement at the end of my feature.
