this plant today has 6 new buds. it did not go into the fridge and blows my whole idea up that these need 55 to bud out. I was wrong. Happiest I ever gonna be wrong!!

2 buds behind the flower (a double bud) and a triple bud growing with more 1 single bud kicking in. and the flower is 2 months old and show little sign of wear

So pretty!! So what conditions does it get? I just got a nice seedling in bloom, and I'm putting it into my terrarium which gets 80F - 65F @ 85%+ Humidity

RJSquirrel 09-23-2022 05:14 AM

Thank you Itzi!

Your low temps are okay. 80'f is a tad high and on the border for stress on these without lots of air flow. The humidity is good. 75'f is better if you can drop it some.

They have to stay moist. Need lots of fresh air and as much light as you can give them without burning the leaves.

In a clay pot w/moss you should be okay, don't let it dry out.

Mounted, you're going to be paying a lot more attention and have to water it 4 or 5 times a day to keep the roots wet.

Good water and a weak fertilizer every time I mist or water them. I use all the stuff Ray sells and its good for them. No leaf burn.

I am very happy that another has joined me in the cuthbert love :)

Yes, I've been providing clean water and good air movement, I did a good amount of research on the species before buying. The only thing I'm still on the fence about is light levels. I have two Barrina T5 LED fixtures above my tank that provide a combined 500 - 1500 FC of light depending on the distance. I have them on for 16 hours a day. How much light do you think D. cuthbertsonii should be getting in that context? I have them around halfway but could bring it up closer to the fixtures if that's better. Thanks!

Beautiful plant, and nicely grown!! I can't believe the flowers last so long, they seem so delicate.

I'd love to have one (ideally several) of these, but it would never cope with the brutally hot temps in my living room most summers.
