Disas at a random hardware store in Japan...
I'm visiting my parents in Japan for the first time since the pandemic began. Pandemic rules are still much in place here and it is certainly interesting to see the difference in public/government response between the Japan and US. People here are pretty blunt with their concerns about someone visiting from the US (e.g. me) but I hope things eventually settle down even in Japan...
anyway, on to orchids: I was at a local hardware store at the outskirts of town when I came across these beautiful Disas! I hadn't seen one before but they are fantastic. Flowers are huge and the colors are eye-catching. They were only about $12.50 US dollars! I wish I could smuggle all of them back to the US. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d23d4ec6_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...afe72488_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...204821bc_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c234485b_c.jpg |
You're having a wonderful trip in more ways than one! Spectacular orchids.

Beautiful!

OH WOW! Those are spectacular. Clearly someone has figured out how to grow them... I have had zero success and their scarcity in the US is related to the fact that hardly anybody else can. But these are wonderful.
Have a great trip! Indeed, a very different - and very refreshing - cultural ethos. |
Wow!
Glad you can see your parents after so long. |
just amazing and glad we don't have them here. I spend too much on what we do have already :)
