Can I grow grammatophyllum?

Hi!
My climate is very very dry and extremely hot in the summers [ temp goes up to 48 degree celcius, and in summer the humidity is lowish], very humid and rainy in monsoon[the humidity is high like 70 80 p.c.], and very cold in winters[ temp goes below 5 degree celcius]. most of the year the humidity is around 50.
i grow orchids both indoors and outdoors lol if they start scorching outside, i bring them in. we put shade nets over the entire garden in the summer though.

I stumbled upon a mediumish size grammatophyllum speciosum for sale. Will it be okay if I get it and keep it indoors in summer?

H.D.- see the responses to Arizona Jeanie thread also in the Beginner forum. Your answer is in there. It will be all about humidity for you I think.

I think you could grow them outside all year round with no problem!

Just be sure to give it a lot of water in summer and dry winter rest

Sorry, I've tried with other species. Above 40C in low humidity won't work no matter how much you water. The leaves and new growths dry up. And realize Grammatophyllum speciosum is perhaps the largest orchid plant in the world. Do you have space in your home for something as large as a clump of bamboo?

🥲 I already placed the order sighhhhhhh.
I don’t have ANY issue with space, but the humidity part…… I’ll try to place it above my little lotus pond or something. Thanks!!

Do your lotus grow and flower well? How is your lotus pond situated with regards to sun? I can't grow them in my pond in sun. The heat and low humidity burn the leaves as soon as the emerge. Water lilies grow and flower well here.

yes they grow very nicely and vigourously!
i have not seen any leave burn here. well apart from the very middle of summer, the humidity is pretty ok here. also, lotuses grow in water lol i dont see how humidity is a problem.

When it's 43C and 7% relative humidity lotus leaves standing out of the water here turn crisp brown.
