I have lots of questions and should probably introduce myself!

:waving I really dove into this hobby this year about a month or 2 ago.
Previously my mom and grandmother used to collect these flowers, and I really enjoyed them. But when I bought them I would at some point forget to do anything with them and they would die of neglect. :(
However this year I decided I would put forth real effort and grow orchids without killing them. I started buying like 30+ at once, and often several of each type just to get a better price, and in case something happened to one.
I have questions about them though, as I find conflicting information and people often have no idea what the answers are. So thank you for accepting me!

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad you decided to join us. In the beginner section, post a list of your plants, your growing conditions (temps day/night, humidity, general location, water source and watering habits, fertilizer if any, etc.) We will answer specific questions as they come up.

Welcome!
Can you tell us about our growing conditions and what types of orchids? And where you live... Different types of orchids have very different needs so the more specific you can be, the more helpful the advice will be. An "easy orchid" is one for which you can provide the necessary conditions without a lot of trouble and expense. A "hard" one is the opposite... The "easy" ones and "hard ones" will be different depending on what comes naturally in your location.

That’s a good point! Should I post the info here in this thread? Or somewhere else?

When you start asking questions in the Beginner Discussion forum, that's a good place to fill in the details.

Wow, thirty at once. I assume you have a huge place to put them! What type are they? Good luck!

I bought Costco shelving! It’s awesome, and then I taped rolls of thin shelf liners to them, for added stabilization. I think it looks nice and nothing falls off even if it’s bumped. :)
I have lots of paphs and phrags, but a couple Dendrobium, oncidium, Cattleyas, a cycnodoes, a couple burr and a Miltoniopsis. Oh and some Phalanopsis too of course!
Currently I have 80 something 😅

Interesting! I am a phrag/paph fan-- have some dendrobiums too. I decided to stick to only a few species, but when I was new I would get big boxes from Carmella-- filled with "their choice." Lost a lot of orchids and did my weaping, and now I stick with only a few types. Phrags generally end up costing a lot, so I think that stops me from buying too many as well.

Yes they do! I ended up buying in bulk from different places then I let friends and family buy them at discounted pricing from me since I got better prices that way. :) that way we all got to expand our collections for less money. But I’ll be honest, it was a ton of money upfront. I have spent quite a bit this year.
