Kelp extract / kelp meal?
Hi! Sorry if this has been answered, I couldn't find it by plugging in a bunch of different search versions :/
Anyhoo... I apparently have been using KLN that may or may not have expired in 2016 :scratchhead:..... so that got tossed. I have kelp MEAL that I've bought for other gardening purposes but then looking around i was seeing the kelp extract being touted for the root stim instead of KLN/superthrive (still have some superthrive too i think...), so the question is: can i just use the kelp meal instead of extract? if so, how, since when i tried to mix it it just seems to float in the jug then settle out? (I use a gallon water jug so it's super visible when it settles out and goes nowhere) Thanks in advance!!! Irene |
Ray, who sells Kelpak, will be along to answer before long, but the useful hormones in kelp extracts don't last very long when the product is dried. I would expect your dried kelp could provide some minerals and organic matter to plants but not much else.
Get yourself over to Ray's Web site and buy some Kelpak from him. I am one of those here who are convinced it works wonders. |
Irene,
Your Superthrive is probably "dead" too. The synthetic hormones in it and KLN are quite unstable, so degrade in about a year if refrigerated, and much more quickly if not. ES was correct about the drying process degrading the helpful chemicals in kelp products. Take a look at this. Also, check your PMs. |
