Fuzz on phal root in SH
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and I’m sorry this is my first post and hope it is the best place.
I started some Phalaenopsis in semi Hydro after almost killing them in bark. They basically had no roots but using the semi Hydro technique, roots have regrown and the plants have have rehydrated and are growing!. I have been quite happy. Recently I noticed a fine, well defined fuzz on one of the roots. I searched through the old posts here and could not find a fungus picture that looked quite like this. I just recently put this plant into a new glass jar (that I drilled myself after reading the sticky here!), having previously been in a plastic cup. Is this a fungus? Should I Physan20 it? Leave it alone? |
Welcome to the Orchid Board!
I can't see it well enough to tell what it is. But I wouldn't worry about it. Orchids do make root hairs sometimes. |
Welcome to Orchidboard! That isn't fungus but root hairs. I have a lot of Phals and occasionally see this on new root tips
|
That has happened to my plants as well. If I get it right the roots double in size and grow hairs if they are really happy in SH
|
Thank you all so much! Yes, they look very organized, and are oriented perpendicular to the root. I am happy now to just watch them continue to grow!
