Input on Phals to order
 

About to place an order since the vendors are shipping again! :dance13:

The list isn't finalized yet and the ones with a * next to their name are plants I'm uncertain if I should order or not, but this is how it looks:

• Phal. Mini Mark

• Phal. Wiganiae

• Phal. Yaphon Blue Bird (meristem)

• Phal. Liu's Berry ES (meristem)

• Phal. Yaphon Sensational (meristem)*

• Phal. Ld's Bear King LD x George Vasquez Eureka*

• Phal. Yaphon Cupid (meristem)*

• Phal. Yang Yang Love Love (meristem)*

• Phal. CTL Christopher 1 (meristem)*

• Phal. KS Pride Golden Diamond (meristem)*

The plan was to order a Phal. Jennifer Palermo, but I realize the Phal. Sensation is pretty much the color I hope from that cross. The reason I'm uncertain about it is the shape of the flower. I like it, but definitely prefer the shapes of the parents of the Ld's Bear King LD x George Vasquez Eureka-cross, but then we're back to uncertainty in regards to the color. :dumb:

The yellow ones (Yaphon Cupid and Yang Yang Love Love) I'm also uncertain about. All I know is that I want a Phal with yellow on it. I really like the Phal. Yang Yang Love Love, but it's the most expensive plant on the list. That and the fact that there's 25% gigantea in its ancestry is making me hesitate. :nailbite:

The Phal. CTL Christopher is extremely cute, which is why it ended up on the list. I also believe that this one and the KS Pride Golden Diamond are a bit more floriferous compared to the novelty Phals, but I could be wrong.

That's it so far. If you have any suggestions, advice, opinions, please let me know. You might save some Phals from (un)certain death!

Of your maybes, I vote for the KS Pride Golden Diamond. And definitely the Yaphon Cupid over the YangYang.

i dunno, i would totally go for a yang yang, only because one of my favorite of our phals is a yang yang supermodel. so i am interested in more of thier line. don't worry about gigantea, especially at 25% (my novice opinion) as our hybrids of that are quite vigorous and no more finicky then any grocery store phal it seems. the supermodel is blooming again now actually...

also, i will give you our minimark if you want it. seriously, you can have it. it has the passport tag so i think i could easily ship it up north...send me a pm if you are interested

Thanks for your input! I chose the KS Pride Golden Diamond and the Yaphon Blue Bird over the Yang Yang Love. Yes, almost ditched the Yaphon Blue Bird for it. :dumb:

And I still need a proper yellow Phal. I'll keep an eye out and see if I find one that appeals to me.

Aww, I think I wrote my post as you posted yours... I needed two Mini Marks since my friend wanted one too, but it was super nice of you to offer. :biggrin:

I really like the Yang Yang, but I had to be stern with myself since it was so expensive. I would've hated buying it and then accidentally killing it. :nailbite:

ha! no worries! if your mini mark dies, or if you change your mind and just want a free orchid, let me know. the focus of our collection is changing and i don't really feel like figuring out how to make it bloom.
