When to repot cattleya Amazing Thailand
1 Attachment(s)
Hello!!! I have a Cattleya Amazing Thailand seedling ( didnt realize how small it was until i got it). It is currently in leca and I dislike it alot. I would much prefer it be in a bark type medium. I do have some cattleya repotting mix. I also have an appropriate sized pot for it to go into. My question is when can I repot it so I don't disrupt root formation and growth? I think I see a little baby root forming on the one new growth. I really want this plant to survive and am so excited it actually is growing now. I have repotted my phals and have potted some seedling oncidiums, but i think cattleyas are a little different.....not sure, may be wrong. Thank you for your help guys!!!

That new little root says "It's a good time" ... When new roots are just starting to emerge is ideal... existing roots adapt to their medium, may no survive long-term in a new one. The newly-emerging roots will adapt to the new medium so that's perferct.

Repotted it!!! It had some nice tiny roots on it which made me so happy. I thought the plant was a goner. The longest new root may have been a quarter of an inch long. In the picture, I had just watered it so it looks super wet, but it drained well. I am excited to see what it does. Thanks!!!

Sewag - Have patience. I have a mature Amazing Thailand and it is truly AMAZING when it blooms.

Why did you think it was in trouble? It looks normal.

I had thought it was gone because the roots had all died and the leaves had some small wrinkles all over them. Just never really understood til recently how cattleyas grew.
Realoldbeachbum- I am very excited for to eventually bloom. I know it's gunna take a while, but I am going to patiently await some blooms!!! |
