Big Island Volcano park flower ID?
2 Attachment(s)
This stuff looks like grass and was growing around an old crater. The stems go straight down into the ground and I didn’t feel any paeudobulbs at the bottom. It totally looks like a cattleya flower to me but the weedy leaves and no pseudo bulbs and growing out of the ground??!!

Invasive terrestrial orchids are very common in Puna [where the NP is located], and the rest of Big Island.
Probably the three most common ones are: Arudinua gramanifolia, Sphatoglottis plicata, and Phaius tankervilleae They are seen almost everywhere in waste areas alongside the roads, sometimes covering large areas, got a bunch scattered around my yard, too. |
The correct spelling of the genus is arundina.
