HELP: Identifying Oncidium + Care Tips
2 Attachment(s)
I got an oncidium from a nursery a week or two ago and it came with no identification. Today it bloomed and I’m wondering if someone could help me identify it.
It’s not fragrant btw. Also does anyone have any care tips about Oncidiums? |
Yes, it's an Oncidium intergeneric hybrid. There are so many it's impossible to give a name.
It's late and I don't want to type a lot. The Oncidium forum, accessible from the left yellow menu, has a lot of growing information. |

This looks very much like my Onc. Witch’s Jewel ‘Ivory Lips,” which to my knowledge is not an intergeneric. I have added a picture of mine if you would like to compare. Mine has a barely detectable scent, even with your nose buried in a bloom. Mine is in spike but has yet to open her blooms. I grow mine in a semi-hydro set up, which is also to the left on this board. Happy growing! Enjoy your new orchid, whatever it may be!

To illustrate the point that this is a common look that can be derived by crossing a variety of parents, this is Oncidoidia Pacific Pagan ‘Kilauea’. Slightly fragrant.
