Epi. Pacific Girl x Pacific Embers in Bloom
This is your standard reed stem Epidendrum. I have been in love with these guys since I first started growing orchids. I was talked out of buying one on several occasions. I was told they like high humidity. Pish Posh! I bought this one in bloom almost a year ago and this is it's first rebloom for me. It grows like a weed and doesn't seem to have any issues with humidty. I'd say it's a great beginner plant. Enjoy. :)

That is MAGNIFICENT!
I think with blooms like that, you put that humidity "myth" to rest! Great growing! |
i have to agree, that is a wonderfull plant.
they do get quite tall though, don,t they? or could i grow it under lights? |
Amazing sucess story!!!! So glad you went ahead with getting this orchid. It was made for you to grow! :)

Snow they do get quite tall. It's 32" from the bottom of the pot to the top of the infloresence. I started it on my bottom shelf with the other tall ones under lights. When it started spiking I didn't pay enough attention and it mushed it's bract into the bottom of the shelf above it. About 3 weeks later it pushed out another flower bract. This time I moved it out from under the lights to be on the safe side. :)
Kiki, I think sometimes we just have to take a chance on a plant everyone else tells us we can't grow. You just never know. I feel a little silly now because this one is so easy to grow. |
