My new acquisition: Mediocalcar decoratum
Got it a month ago. The new growths appeared under my care. If everything goes according the plan, I will repot it in a shallow pot to create a moss-like mat.

Nice. That’s my culture too
Shallow 6” pot. Bottom is lined with coir it sits in a plastic dish that is usually half full of water. Inorganic on top of the coir. |
Mine just sits on top of a wood basket - there is sphagnum in the basket, which helps maintain humidity around roots, but the roots are mostly in the air above it, and new growths are spilling over the side of the basket. My goal is something like a ball. But it puts on a good show, probably around January.

I tried this. I split a large bare-root piece into two, one in a terrarium and one in a shallow dish on top of sphagnum moss. When it got hot both died. So pay attention to temperatures.

here is the setup on mine- the saucer goes half way up the pot and the pot is maybe 3" tall the bottom of the pot is charcoal and then a mat of coir and then the plant- no flowers but shes about doubled in size in a year
in my lath house it gets medium light, it is low so there are always plants above it but it does get warm to hot....i think the dish of water helps with that https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...50de2d37_c.jpgUntitled by J Solo, on Flickr |

Not sure what your growspace is rbarata but I have a friend who grows in New Hampshire in a greenhouse (outdoor shadehouse in summer) and he has his mounted on a giant slab of cork bark the size of a coffee table which he hangs against a wall. The plant has enveloped it and it has been awarded. I have no idea how old it is but he's had it a VERY long time. It is spectacular! Enjoy.

Beautiful! With shading (just protect from blazing sun) I think it will get through summer just fine. If it's hot, just water more...
