Worrying spots that look like cymmv/ORSV on Odontoglossum

As title says. The spots look worrying. I'd love to get a test kit but I don't know where I'd get one in the UK, like everything else to do with everything in this country.

If someone could link me where to source a test kit and what these spots look like, please comment.

I hope so, I'm perfectly happy to just cut it off over throwing the plant away. I got the plant perhaps 2-3 months ago from a normally very reputable plant shop.

It'll be quarantined from the rest for a bit regardless

that's how my pabstia jugosa started off. Then they just went completely.
I have blamed a thrip outbreak. Not saying that is what is the cause for yours. Most likely just transport stress.

Always inspect the roots and check for pests is my latest advice. Although any stressful thing can affect odontoglossums, even drying out too much.

As long as new growth is appearing you should be ok.
Here I will show you the sorry state of my pabstia. When it dropped it's leaves I was ready to cry but a week later at least a new growth popped up

Also looks to me like either a bacterial/fungal issue, or even a bit of sunburn. (Leaves are very light in color, indicating that it's getting a lot of light, though Odonts tend to be pretty light green anyway... maybe the leaf tip just got a little too much light or heat. )

Not sure where you could get test strips in the UK. But while one can't usually make a definitive diagnosis of virus without testing, those spots look nothing like the patterns that I would associate with possible virus. I'd just clip those leaf tips with a sterile scissors/clippers, maybe dab a bit of cinnamon on the cut edges.

Looks sad, but where there is green there is hope!

I agree Roberta, but I didn't want to divert from LR's post. Just showing it could be worse but I have faith too.

It has has a lot of light recently, I need a new light which is less powerful than my current ones for this and my Miltoniopsis. It's not a problem with water, it's in semi hydro and there new root growth is quite surprising How much there is, bulbs haven't puckered or anything. I've seen no evidence (other than these marks) of pests however and I've had a recent check of all my plants because of another orchid, in another room, had some problems. I suppose I'll keep an eye out on things.
