Can Phragmipedium hybrids grow in straight sphagnum moss?

Hello! I am growing several orchids in sphagnum and find it easier than bark. I read phrags like a bark mix and I do have a mix I bought but I also really like sphagnum because it’s easier to tell when they need water. Could a Phrag grow in New Zealand sphagnum? Can I use the generic bark mix if not? I have a paph growing in straight sphagnum right now and it seems very happy.

Phrags can grow in sphagnum. They need more water than Paphs. For best growth they shouldn't dry out.

Many people here grow Phrags in bark or bark/sphag with the pot standing in a dish full of water. I don't know whether that is good with 100% sphagnum moss.

I grow mine in semihydroponics. They do well for me.

Oh that could work! I keep a few carnivorous plants in water dishes and my Dracula is constantly humid. I will do a mix of bark and sphagnum!
