A Den. I can't figure out!

Hi All,
Okay, I bought this Den. pachyphyllum about 7 months ago and have no idea why! Yes, this is all part of the "orchid sickness" thing I got going on. I seriously don't know what there was about it that made me take it home. It was very young with nothing by way of blooms going on. It seems to be a very slow grower with no signs of blooms anytime soon, either. Truthfully, it's a rather ugly plant. It's healthy, alright, but even the leaves look no bigger than nubbins.
Anyone have this one? And what do you like about it?
My theory is that it jumped in my cart when I wasn't looking.

Oh and by the way, due to the thread I just did about the den., I think the "Senior Member" that is written under my name was suppose to be "Senior Moment."
I seriously think I am having one this morning! ;)

You've probably seen this already but...
IOSPE PHOTOS

I was reading somewhere that this particular species really likes to be flown from Maine and grown on the west coast of Florida

:muahaha:

Kiki, I don't grow this one, but my Den book says:

Quote:

It grows epiphytically in areas of high light intensity such as on roadside trees and in plantations, from sea level to about 1500m. The flowers are borne singly at the apex of the pseudobulb and are about 1cm long. They are fragrant and last only a day or two. Flowers are produced sporadically throughout the year, with all plants in the area flowering at the same time, probably in response to a drop in temperature some time previously.

The mat-forming habit means that the plants are best suited to slab culture, but they can be grown in a pot of well-drained medium. The plants require strong light and grow well in warm to intermediate conditions with year-round watering and high humidity.
