No scent on oncidium Heaven Scent Redolence
 

This oncidium has just started blooming for the first time. It has no scent at all. How long does it usually take for it to live up to its name?

I don’t know that plant, specifically, but scent may take a few days to be released, or there could be other release triggers. I’ve had several plants produce the best scent when hit with early morning sunlight, for example.

A warmer atmosphere usually helps mine get going.

It may take a few days. Warmth, as mentioned above, is important. Also sunlight landing on the flowers - even through a window - often triggers fragrance release, if it's warm enough.
