small black spots on vanda seedling
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I've been scrolling through posts but can't come to any conclusion on these tiny black spots on a new vanda seedling. (It came with a fairly big order of seedlings and I didn't notice the spots at first). Phyllosticta? Something less troublesome? What would you use to treat these? I also included a photo of the root tips, which are brown in case that might be connected? (or maybe from over-fertilizing at the nursery?). It's currently living in my bathroom for extra humidity. It's a very sunny room and I keep a fan aimed on it for a few hours/day, window cracked as weather permits. Thank you! |
Such spotting is quite common, especially if mother is a lot of smaller vanda (formerly ascocentrum) in the background.
The roots look like they are jest kept too dry. |
Don't put a fan on a bare-root Vanda in your house. It's hard enough without the fan to water them enough.

Good call -- thank you!
