Is there a universal thread to post NoID pics?

Hey long term users!
I was wondering if there is already an ongoing thread for posting pictures of NoID orchids in bloom? I've got a few I would eventually like to post but didn't want to post on the wrong categories or whatnot.

There are sections for different alliance (genus). Nothing specific for NOIDs. Click on "Forums" at the left, and scroll down until you see the listing of the different genera.

If you're uncertain of the category, you can always post in the Beginner Discussion, or if you'd like to solicit ideas about what group it might belong in, the Identification forum. (If it's a NOID, someone can usually give a reasonable guess as to genus, or at least group of genera)

I know its a phalaenopsis. I was mostly curious about whether or not there was a group thread or not. If not, thats fine

Also, the Orchids In Bloom forum doesn't have any rules. Lots of beautiful NOIDs there along with plants that do have IDs.

If you don't know the genus, it can just go in the "orchids in bloom" forum. Otherwise, a NOID Phal can be easily posted in the Phal hybrids forum for instance.

We're not that strict, as long as the choice of forum makes some sense. And if it was really wrong, mods can help you fix the problem and move the thread elsewhere!

This one might work, too? Get opinions on more specific ID (sometimes not possible of course), and show off bloom! :D

Old thread I know but I saw one that was pinned asking for a Phal. NoID thread and I think that would be a good idea as most NoIDs are most likely Phals because they are in different grocery/hardware/general variety stores with insufficient/inaccurate tags and being purchased in situations in which no one will probably think the tag isn't just packaging unless there happens to be a horticulturist who not only sees that it's a plant which needs the tag preserved but also is in a position to do so. That's almost always not a Catt., Dendrobium, or whatever, and if someone doesn't even know the genus like me with Dendrobium phalaenopsis and my best guess was Cymbidium, they probably have at least enough knowledge to know it isn't Phalaenopsis.

Almost like Phalaenopsis noid is a special genus of the Phalaenopsis that someone who never knew or cared about orchids suddenly finds themselves in love with, and that's actually how most people get trapped by those awful orchid pollinia-holding thirst traps. It's not Catts, not Brassavola, not Dendrobium, not Vanda, that one orchid that made you cry when you knew not orchids but lost that keiki (not from personal experience but if I had been younger when this happened maybe), well, 99% of the time it's in the Phal. group, and in the other 1% the grower probably knows enough to know it's not a Phal. so could put it in an unknown category excluding Phals or in a genus alliance forum if they know the genus or even if they get it wrong someone could point them to the proper alliance forum. An unknown category wouldn't get huge amounts of traffic until the Phal. noid owners realized they can get faster or better responses in the non-Phal noid forum. Even then almost all Phal. killers just forget about it and do other stuff, while most people who care enough to even find this board have a chance to help build the hobby. I think a special forum for Phal. NoIDs is sorely needed and would make administration suddenly a few percent easier. Maybe not, I've never adminned or moderated a board so I don't actually know about that.

I'm going to have to disagree. We already have a forum for Phalaenopsis, and it is divided into two sub-forums, Species and Hybrids. If you bought a Phal. at a grocery store or big box store or anyplace else and it did not come with a tag, the odds are very close to 100 percent that it is a hybrid, so why not simply put it into the Phal. Hybrid section of the forum? Or, your post may more properly belong in the Beginner's forum, the Orchid Identification forum, or the Orchids in Bloom forum, but I think the addition of a special forum called Phalaenopsis NoID would be redundant. JMO. ;)

I think the Identification forum fills this need, especially if the person doesn't know the genus. Plus it's close to the top of the Forums page, so it's easy to find.
