Prosthechea cochleata semi hydro

3 Attachment(s)
I've had my Prosthetcha Cochleata for about 3 months now and it's just exploded with new growth. I'm wondering if people have had success with Prosthetchea in semi hydro as I'm aware that they like a drying out period as they have very large pseudobulbs. Also there's a new growth coming out so I'd like that new bulb especially to adapt to semihydro culture as well as the new roots.

Advice is appreciated!

I have grown a couple of prosthechea species in S/H culture.

I am not aware of any plant that “wants” to dry out. Those that get a “rest”, often are getting “no food” rather than “no water”.

I was exaggerating a bit and assumed people would know what I meant, for example you would water a regular phal hybrid a little more often than a Cattleya hybrid.

You said you have grown them in semi hydro before, do you not anymore? If so why?

Prosthecheas generally need a lot more water than Cattleya species. They do far better if they don't dry out. S/H is great for them if you water frequently. In pots with standard media they still require plenty of air at the roots.
