Paph sukhakulii
First blooming. This one has been at this stage of opening for 3 days so I suspect this is what I am going to get in my growing conditions. Not complaining, but how do others get the more open posture? Is it temperature? Light?
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...bs/DSC2681.jpg http://www.orchidboard.com/community...bs/DSC2683.jpg It's not, what I would call, a miniature, but pretty close. I have room for lots of plants this size  :blushing:  Thanks for looking. |
Ross, I just bought this in bloom last weekend. I stuck mine on my middle shelf with the catts near but not next to the window and right under a T5. It has spread out a bit more over the last couple of days. It may be a combination of both temp and light. Just a guess though. Isn't this a great plant? I love it.

Gorgeous Paph, Ross! I love the "freckles"... really cool!

Ross, sometimes it cause of being the first bloom or yes it could be lighting. Also sometimes it take more then a few days for slippers to straighten up.
If you add more lighting and wait a few days, nothing happens, then it likey the first reason I mentioned. It's wonderful to see you and others here Ross becomming interested and seeing beautiful photos' of slippers. Congrats :D |
Neat, Ross!
Is this your first Paph? I don't recall you ever talking about one before...beware, they're very sneaky ;) You'll have a dozen before you even realize what's happening! :coverlaugh: |
Not my first. Just my first "mini" Paph. Have 6 so far. Check my plant list and gallery.

Hey Ross, nice bloom.
My Sukhakulii is in bloom also. It was pretty hooded when it first opened up under the lights too, but I moved it into the house to display it and it opened all the way. The table it sits on now isn't near a window, so it is quite shaded. My Delenatii just opened one of 2 blooms, and I changed it's position under the lights on the plant shelf to make the bloom point higher because the whole flower was kinda leaning forward. So my thought is that direction and strength of light makes quite a difference in how the bloom looks. :twocents: |
Here's a :photo: of mine when I first brought it home. I was looking at it today and it looks like the petals have gotten wider and longer.

Ross,
I also have a sukhakuii that was in bloom when I purchased it last winter. It seems to be doing ok, but not showing any signs of setting bud. I just moved it from a bright location to one that gets more sun in the greenhouse. I also switched to a 20-20-20 fert. What else might I do to promote flowering? |
