Cephalotus - nice addition to the grow room
Hey,
I'm currently on the lookout to put some fly trap plants in my grow areas.. I came up with the idea bc I have most of my plants on humidity trays and want to make advantage of the shade that my Catts provide. In addition, I do have some small flies and that might be a good way to minimize population. Doing some research I figured out that temp and humidity is about the same. I just bought some carnivourus and they look really nice. Long story short, I need Cephalotus in my house. Any idea where to get them? Seems like not easy to find. Any other thoughts? thx! |
They are not at all easy to grow under lights because it is hard to give enough light without overheating them. They are cool-growing mediterranean climate plants that do well outside along the southern California coast. They absolutely require very pure water and very bright light.
Do a lot of reading before trying to grow one indoors. Maybe start with a less difficult North American pitcher plant hybrid. The light/heat issue is similar, but they are more heat tolerant. Have you looked at the International Carnivorous Plant Society? |
Thanks, and I think you are right. I'll probably try out an hybrid first.. they look so interesting and from how it reads its fine but I guess it's not as easy as I think so I'll play safe.
