Root growing into water reservoir
 

Should I be concerned if my phal is growing its roots downwards into the water reservoir of my S/H setup? Is it okay to have part of the root immersed in water at all times?

This is completely normal and a sign that your plant is adapting well to S/H. Be happy!

I had a C. aclandiae that is known to love drying out between waterings. It was in S/H, and many of the roots grew down into the constantly wet area. It must have been happy because it bloomed fine that way.
