oh man! i got an order today finally. i'm not sure what the community concencus on schwerter is or has been, but i am very pleased so far with the 2 order i've gotten from them. a total of 5 plants, and 3 new ones today!!

vanilla, a minix doritis pulcherrima, and a mini mark. super healthy looking plants, even after over 3 days in a box. i did lose one flower on the mini mark, but hey, i ain't complaining! and not knowing this plant all that well i'm not sure if the buds are normally that yellow, or if they might be about to blast off. and the doriti has a spike growing too!!!

Schwerter is generally very good, like any nursery they might have a weak plant here or there but I've found they try their best.

I think it's great to have you here but I'm surprised too, Germany has the biggest orchid market in Europe and several active Forums to go with it unlike most other countries.

I like checking out orchideenfreunde.net for the nice pictures.
Like any community you get some annoying growers that believe it is an elite hobby only allowed for certain people but that Forum overall is a great community and if you don't understand German you won't pick up on the fact some like to think they are a bit superior to other countries at times.

Schwerter is great, you made a good choice! And your plants look very strong and healthy. If you want some other great orchid sources, try Lucke Orchideen or Roelke. While I've never shopped there, other members here say OrchIdeengarten is also very good.

while I can’t comment on the average German orchid grower, I do consider myself lucky to have some really good nurseries to buy from! but being an American, my German prolly isn’t good enough to catch a lot of that nuance in speech.

thanks for the suggestions Camille. also I have bout one order from roellke also, and those plants appear to be healthy as well. beteeen the two, I can’t see much difference in overall plant health, but schwerter seems to have bigger plants. ?? prolly just my order maybe tho.

now waiting on some kelpak to arrive and I should be set up for many years of slo orchid death!!!
