Another noid. I bought it a while back at the local farmers' market, and I don't remember whether it ever had a tag. I was pretty inexperienced back then and divided the plant when it was much too small, so it struggled for a while. It's doing quite well now though; this is the first time it's bloomed since I divided it. The inflorescence emerged from a shoot growth that is still developing. The flowers are much larger than I remember – a good 3" across, I think. They have an interesting smell – kind of like baby powder. :)

I have a very similar plant. It's a great grower and bloomer. Mine was named.

Lovely plant! I usually shy away from making assumptions about noids, but your plant (and other photos on the web) sure do bear a striking resemblance to this plant. Are there any other very similar hybrids/possibilities? I think a lot of Zygopetalum hybrids have similar shape/coloration, but this one does share with Rhein Moonlight the solid maroon-purple sepals/petals with the subtle green tips and the nearly solid magenta lip with white spotting around the edge.

Maybe I'll start (casually) referring to it as a Rhein Moonlight. :)

Very nice!

Ummm... what about the terrarium in the background?

It also looks similar to my Harlekin Select that I posted recently - so you can have a choice of what to call it.

LOL, it's not dead; it's just not being used.

...I guess it can have multiple names and thereby stay a noid, then.

Beautiful flower. I vote for calling it "Chuck" and just enjoying it to the max!
