Cattleya nobilior coerulea

Check out this giant Cattleya nobilior coerulea! Shape isn't great, but the color is nice and its almost 6 inches wide! I made a video here: Show & Tell- Cattleya nobilior coerulea - YouTube

The green/purplish contrast is superb.

I think it's a superb bloom, Steve. Is this the first time that it's flowered for you? Perhaps the shape (which, to me, isn't bad at all) will improve as the plant matures.

So how are you growing this? Like walkeriana (cool and dry winter rest), or differently? Care to provide some cultural tips, please?

This is the second bloom for this one, with the shape being the same between both. I grow this one next to my walkeriana and nobilior and it does get a drier rest than my other Cattleyas, but not bone dry during winter like I used to do. They get watered once every few weeks this time of year.

Thank you. I took the plunge and purchased a couple of nobiliors to experiment with. One has a spike. So if it successfully flowers, I can't take any credit. Conversely, I'd like to avoid taking "credit" if it dies. So I appreciate your feedback.

Very cool! I'd love to see your plants and where you got them from!

Wow!!! I really like this one!!! It's right up my alley when it comes to Catts. I don't see anything wrong with the bloom, but my eyes are very much untrained. I just love the colour and size.
