Brassia leaves turning brown

Hello all,

Wishing you a happy new year and lots of luck with your orchids.

I have a question regarding my Brassia. A couple of her leaves are turning brown. The picture shows three leaves with brown spots that turned into this state in about 1.5 month.

I water it once a week when the wooden stick is almost dry. Temprature is around 19 Celsius (66.2 Fahrenheit) and humidity is 50%. The orchid is standing on a bench next to an eastern window with a see through curtain.

The pseudobulbs look fine to me and there are no yellowing leaves. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

One suggestion... try watering more often. Brassias (and other members of the Oncidium tribe) like to stay on the damp side. (Much more so thant Cattleyas or even Phalaenopsis) Your bark looks big enough to give plenty of air in the root zone, so not much worry about overwatering. Losing old leaves is natural, the one closest to the front does look like an older one, can't tell about the others.

Brassia's will also periodically just jettison a leaf. If it's an older leaf I would not worry about it especially as you say the pseudobulb looks fine. It's the natural process of growing and aging.
I have a caudata in a 14" bulb pan that is currently holding 11 spikes of buds. I noticed a small brown leaf this morning and it fell free and I chucked it and won't lose a minute of sleep over it.
