Help with humidity for dracs
 

I wonder if anyone can help me. I live in an arctic climate which is very dry and cold. I grow in a small room - I have about 100 orchids in there but this is mostly about my 20 Masdevallia and recently added Dracula to this space. Before I added the drac I had a fan blowing in that room and due to the size of the room, it blows on the orchids but it wasn’t an issue. Now unfortunately, I am trying to keep the humidity >75% on the lower shelves and when I turn the fan in it blows the humidity down to 60. I know this isn’t high enough for the Dracula. Would turning the fan up towards the ceiling still be enough air movement for the masd and dracs?

Every room is different, so this can't be predicted. Move the fan, and put the hygrometer where you would put your Dracula.

First, you need to understand that fans are not intended to create a breeze on the plants, they are needed to prevent pockets of air stagnation. A fan blowing anywhere in the room will likely do that, even if pointed away from them. If you have fixed air heating, you probably don’t even need that.

Second, the only way you’ll be able to increase the humidity around only a small part of your grow room is to enclose that part. Nature wants to spread the water vapor evenly throughout that room, and out into less-humid parts of the house and into the atmosphere.

If you’re able to keep the entire room sufficiently humid, don’t bother.

Hello and thanks for taking the time to help. I guess I should have worded my question this way “will just having the fan in the room be enough” which you answers so thank you!!

I don’t know if I understand this but though My hygrometer usually have about 10% difference in top shelf versus the bottom shelf which is why I am aiming for 75% towards the bottom. I do have the bottom shelves sides and underside enclosed with the top open it basically catches the fog down there.
