Discoloration on phalaenopsis leaves
3 Attachment(s)
Hello! I’m pretty new to orchids and have only one that for the most part has seemed pretty happy. However, I just noticed that there is some black splotchy discoloration on the edges of the leaves. There’s also a darker spot by the roots that is concerning me. Is this something to worry about? I water it once a week but could reduce that if it’s being overwatered. I was also thinking of applying some cinnamon to the black spot if this happens to be a fungal infection. I’d appreciate any help!
Thank you, Eric |
Welcome to the Orchid Board!
What are your temperatures and relative humidity? Keep in mind as we head into fall is that Phals like warm temperatures. Fungus problems in Phals essentially don't happen in the lower humidity of most homes unless there is inadequate air at the roots or temperatures are low. |

That's on the cooler side for Phals. Be sure the medium has plenty of air spaces so the roots don't suffocate.
