If you've used a misting system...
 

I have a MistKing I've used for many years, never had to replace a single valve. Always used RO water in it. With a new setup, plus a lot less mounts, I don't have as much need to run as many valves as I used to.

I'd really like to make my RO holding tank also my misting tank now. Always had separate tanks, as I didn't want to run fertilizer or Kelpmax through the misting system.

Anyone use a misting system, over time, and run fertilizer and/or Kelpmax through it? And if so, did it appear the valves/nozzles needed frequent replacement?

I have used K-Lite through a Mist King system. The chamber it was in was VERY humid, so buildup on the tip was nonexistent.

KelpMax shouldn't be an issue, but if you leave it in the reservoir for any length of time, it'll grow stuff. I think you're better off hand applying the KelpMax.

Thanks Ray. Was hoping you’d chime in. I’m running 65-70% humidity in new grow space now, and haven’t got extra humidity set up yet. So sounds like in long run even having to replace the occasional valve, for me it’s a win win situation.

The Kelpmax, not too worried about buildup. I only do once a month, and when I water it almost drains the tank.

If the tank is opaque it should be a non-issue, no?

My tank is opaque... but doesn't have a lid on it. I'm using a 76 gallon rubber tote right now. Both my outdoor rain barrels have sprung a leak and I haven't been able to make them leak-proof enough to trust them inside the house.

It isn't relevant to me for this particular purpose, but it's a good question. Let's go set up a container outside, but some KelpMax in it, and see what happens! Cool! Science experiment time!!!

Frankly, I’ve not had an issue when I’ve stored diluted KelpMax, but when I quizzed the manufacturer about it, they warned about fungal growths that can clog nozzles. Then they pointed out that most of their product is used by farmers, whose growing area cleanliness might not be as good as ours!

You could also plumb a 3way ball valve before the pump, to switch between fertilizer and RO tanks to flush lines/nozzles or plants.

The pump just sits in bottom of the reservoir.
