Repotted my Sharry Baby

Well, my Sharry Baby just finished blooming, so I took her out of her 6 inch pot. The new bulbs coming in were climbing over the side. This plant was very root bound in the pot. I really couldn't get rid of some of the old media without damaging lots of roots. Unfortunately, I didn't have an 8 inch pot, they seem to be hard to come by, so I had to redo her back into the 6 inch. I'm a little worried since the tops are sticking out of there pretty good. Do you guys think she'll be okay?

I think it looks OK. The bulbs look like they have room to expand. I'm totally asking for a Sharry Baby for my birthday.

Also, I've found that when I unpack an orchid to repot, it helps to run it under the kitchen sink while massaging the roots. Lots of bark will fall out that way without hurting the roots. Looking good so far!! :goodluck:

I repotted a Sharry Baby and in order to get the bark out of the root ball I basically filled a plastic pan with water and gently dunked the roots until the majority if not all of the bark came off.

Looks good.

wow! The roots look healthy!! Do you let yours dry out completely in between waterings? or do you water just before it becomes dry?

I water it when I can no longer see any condensation inside the pot. I can also tell when it's dry, and the pot feels too light. I let it get pretty dry, but I try not to let the bulbs shrivel.

:_( I need clear pots!!! I am using the pencil test, and the moment it comes out without any moisture, I water. There are new growths, so if I am underwatering, I will see pleating, and then increase the watering I guess.
