Laelia jongheana in semi-hydro culture
Very happy/excited to have received this healthy plant from Peter Lin of Diamond Orchids.
I've heard this one is not very easy to get right. For those with experience growing Laelia jongheana, is there any reason with my conditions why semi-hydroponics would not be a good idea? I grow indoors under LED lights. Temperatures are around 78-80F during the day and ~75 at night. Relative humidity is ~50%. I've had success with s/h culture with cattleyas and other cattleya types such as schomburgkia and brassavola. There appears to be a few new roots emerging at the moment. It is currently soaking in kelpmax & quantum total probiotics. I am a bit nervous and going back in forth between taking the dive or just potting it up in what it came with because it was not very cheap. I'll be letting her soak while I stay up all night to consider. Any thoughts to help sway me? Spa day after her transit :beach https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...120d0638_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3f43a7de_c.jpg |
Very nice and healthy looking!

I see no reason for s/h not to work on this one if you've already proven it works in your conditions for other Laeliinae.
