Bit too early blooms.

My Cattleya labiata and coccinea just bloomed.
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1597381343 It is bit too early for them to flower, but the recent record-breaking unusually long monsoon season with very reduced sunlight might have done the trick. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1597381343 Some nibbling insect has severely chewed the flower of labiata. I saw some small crawling bug in the flower so I dusted the growing area with some insecticides. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1597381343 And Catt (soph) coccinea...this is the third plant I am growing, for I was not able to grow this successfully before. But with the help of semi-hydroponics, I finally managed to grow this little gem of orchid. :) |
Wow! Never too early! The S. glistening coccinea is really beautiful!
Just for fun, I looked up the primary hybrid between these two species... Cattleya Wellesleyae. Almost no visible Sophronitis influence. |
That's a wonderful shot. The orange one is a cutie next to the biggie. Both wonderful flowers.
