Any SQL Experts?

About a week ago, my website bit the dust. I was unable to recover it, so rebuilt it from scratch.

Except for a few broken links - mostly images - it’s back to normal, save one major shortfall: none of the calculators work - fertilizer TDS, dosing ratios, light levels, etc...nada.

Being a Wordpress site, it operates off of a sql database back end. I have the table that contains the data for the calculators’ operations, But I don’t have the knowledge to import that data into the new DB.

Anyone out there that can help?

Sorry, Ray. Can't help you on that one.:(

I'm not well versed with SQL too. I've only tinkered with user interfaces like Mamp and Mamp Pro that makes use of SQL databases, or configures some fields of the SQL databases.

A moment ago, after reading this thread, I had a search of the internet to see what details there are for importing database files into SQL involving WordPress, and see this link here.

Last year, I only started getting my toes into WordPress ----- but not too much yet. I will tinker a bit more later with WordPress and see if I can understand the steps involving importing SQL database data into the WordPress system.

Usually - it's not the problem with the users. The users are very likely able to do the importing and things like that. The problem is usually the idiots that write the instructions or procedures (the so-called manual). They always leave out steps or aren't clear about each step - leaving the user to scratch their heads about what to do --- because the 'manual' or instructions are just not well put together. They don't provide decent examples to follow.

I have a friend who blogs on Word Press. She used to write technical manuals, etc, and is a computerwiz. I'll email her and she if she can assist. However, her health is not the best so it may take time to get a response. But I'll sure try!

Ray, I'll check with my boyfriend when he gets home. He doesn't have a website, but does have a couple servers where he maintains our personal cloud storage and email systems. I'm guessing that SQL databases will function similarily as for wordpress.

I was able to manually insert one into the table , which gave me the sql statement needed to do the others...

But it would not display.

Back to the drawing board.

I got some information which I am parroting back to you since I know nothing about this stuff.

Was the data for the calculations already in a sql database before, and if so, is it still functional? If that's the case, my bf tells me you can go to the old database and export the data out of it. Then in the new one, you can import that file.

This sounds very promising. I reckon you're on the brink of getting it sorted.

Camille - it was getting the data into the new table that was the issue, but I figured it it. Thanks for checking.

SouthPark - got one in as a test, but have discovered changes in the plugin prevent me using the old ones at all.

I did recreate one from scratch, and the plugin has far more elegant ways to accomplish things.

Nice work Ray! You're back up and running now, right?
