Another Gold Country recommendation!
9 Attachment(s)
I’m usually a little more conservative when I order from a nursery for the first time. However, I’ve heard such wonderful things about Alan and Gold Country that I just jumped in head first. I decided to try out some mini Catts and a few others, and they are all absolutely wonderful. They were packed very, very well and usps delivered on time. The Phal. speciosa arrived with three spikes, and I’m wondering how this one will compare to my ‘C1’ that’s in bud right now. (Side note: I really want to find one of the grayish ‘blue’ or coffee colored speciosa/tetraspis). A couple of the others are previously bloomed which was pleasantly unexpected. Also got my hands on my first Tolumnia! The growth habit on that one is super cool and it is also in flower along with the ultra adorable Podangis. All in all, I’m very happy with everything and plan on shopping with him again
In the order was: Epi magnolia Meiracyllium trinasutum Phal speciosa Podangis dactyloceras Tolumnia sylvestre C. aurantiaca C. schilleriana Pot. Auburn Fire Sl. Minipet Slc. Jillian Lee Slc. Midnight Doll Slc. Numaza Star Slc. Sacramento Ruby Slc. Sierra Nugget |
Wow----- you did go crazy! Good for you.

I ordered several from Alan recently as well but not as many as you did. No Redlands show was my excuse. I did get to Tamiami but that's more of a 'let's go see if we can find anything interesting' show for me as opposed to Redlands when I typically do a bunch of very specific pre-orders from international and Hawaiian vendors. Redlands is also done with KWOS members as a field trip so always a long fun day.

The orchids all do look very nice!
I just talked to him and he is going to send me the new list. He is very nice and the orchids I received from him the last time I ordered are just wonderful. Good luck with your new additions! |
Oh wow, what a spectacular haul!! And yes, a loack of shows is a perfectly valid reason to go overboard online. I approve of it and want to do the same!
The grayish ‘blue’ speciosa/tetraspis is actually rather common in Europe lately. I've been eying them, but it seems that my conditions aren't warm enough to bloom speciosa/tetraspis. They make spikes but no buds. |
Beautiful!!! I've been eyeing Alan's mini-Catts for a while, I'll be excited to see how yours bloom up!

and don't forget his line bred Leptotes bicolor, 4N. He is up to 7 or 8 generations.
