Please help! Ringspot virus or something?

Hello everyone,

I ordered some orchids from Ten Shin Gardens. One of them has the scarry ring pattern on the pseudobulbs. Is it infected with virus? Should I keep it or throw it to the garbage. I'm so sad. It's Cattleya Aloha Case f. alba (C. Mini Purple x C. walkeriana). From now on, I think I won't buy orchids online from oversea vendor anymore... :(

I don't see anything troubling in the photo. It is possible that there was a scale problem in the past which was cured but the damage will remain. You can't diagnose virus visually... a test is required. You may want to grow the plant away from others for awhile to see if there are negative changes. but I think that it will be OK.

mBb ----- most likely no issue. Just agreeing with Roberta here.

OrchidBoard allows uploaded pics to be approx 1024 x 768 (width by height pixels) for landscape type images, or 768 x 1024 (for portrait type images).

If uploading loading images - can scale them to roughly those sizes, which can give a better view of the regions of interest when compared with small images of full plants.

Even close-up shots are useful.

If a relatively small photo is uploaded, or if the regions of interest can't be seen very well (due to lack of resolution or lack of detail), then that can make it harder to get an idea of what is going on with the pseudobulbs. :faint:
