Two years ago I purchased several large (NBS) seedlings of C. (Mem. Robert Strait, 4N x self). I kept 2 plants, both of which budded up this spring.

The first one just opened. While the label doesn't say so, to the best of my recollection the description said coerulea. This plant is obviously not paying attention to that little detail.

Since the RHS insists on keeping the same name, this one should be designated F2 to identify that it is the result of a selfing or sib cross.

Very nice flower! I like the F2 add-on.

Just curious, do F2 hybrids usually look nearly identical to their parents? I suppose selfing plays a role...

Most of the time an F2 grex yields an incredibly wild range of plants, from close to one parent to close to the other.

I believe that the 2nd plant will have significantly different flowers. Will post in about a week.

Beautiful! I remember this one being really fragrant, with lots of walkeriana influence.
