My second favorite orchid currently in my collection and last photo I will probably post for this season unless my neighbor sends me some good ones over the summer. Bloomed late this year but was worth the wait. And the fragrance is heavenly! Apologize for "in situ" pic from the shadehouse but everybody is all tucked in for the summer.

This years retusa show.

My favorite, favorite (Aerides houlettiana), which hasn't bloomed in 8 years for unknown reasons is jacked and pumped this year and showing 5 spikes. If it doesn't bloom in the next 10 days before I leave for the north country, it's coming with me and hopefully I don't kill it over the summer.

Worth the wait!

I’ve been fascinated by online photos of the Rhynchostylis retusa. Great job on growing that. I’m curious about difficulty to getting these to bloom up north. If I can get my cattleyas, vanda, and brassia to bloom with our short New England summer should these Rhynchostylis retusas be more difficult to successfully grow?

I would think if you've come up with a set-up that is working for vandas then there really is no reason you shouldn't get one and give it a try. They really love bright light, water and heat (year round) so as long as you can provide that, go for it. It will be worth it if you succeed.

Rooting for your houllettiana. Don't care much about the retusa sry but a flowering houllettiana is so rare in people's collections.
Most of the time they take so long to grow people have already given u the hobby by the time they are ready.
