Grime on my porroglossum's leaves! Help!! :(

It looks like grime. Kind of black, not slimy, and can be wiped off with some effort with tissue. It developed over the last few weeks since I got the plant, which makes me wonder if it's some kind of fungus.

My Porroglossum muscosum is growing in a viv set up. I increased the air circulation to see if that will help.

Any tips?

:scratchhead:

It's most likely algae. I get it all the time. Just dunk the whole plant in water and use a soft toothbrush to clean it. You'll probably have to do this every few weeks (I do).

Algae...hmm
I did consider it but then thought against it since there's no algae anywhere else in the tank. I'm happy to know that it's not something destructive!!!

PS. I think you of all people on this forum are the most frequent to answer my posts :) :)

Thank you!

That's because I don't have a life

Algae doesn't always form on every plant. Don't know why that is. I clean up everything, but spores or cells seem to just occur. Anyways, I doubt it is a destructive organism and cleaning should get rid of it temporarily. Just my :twocents:

Hahahaha
Well, regardless of your having a life or not, thanks for your help!

I'm relieved that it's not some kind of crazy fungus that will take over my entire viv. That wouldn't be cool.

:)

How long have you been growing orchids?
