Phal leaf color

Hello 👋 :waving
I’ve attached a photo. Why does the leaf have the darker area? which may have become bigger. Food? too much or too little light? Thanks! :bowing |
I don't think it is much to worry about. I've seen different grades of green on leaves before. Just watch the new growth and see how that does but it looks fine to me.
Some orchids have colour injected into them to make the flowers appear a different colour, this can make a dark patch appear in the leaf tip like yours. Was yours a blue flower or something by any chance? It's nothing anyone has lost an orchid to as far as I'm aware though. |
Is it closer to bright light? It doesn't look soggy or sunken, so I'd just watch it for now.
|
This happens to me when a leaf is only partially exposed to the light. The part of the leaf that is exposed to the light is pigmented and the part that is shaded is more green.

Umm, i think it’s all pretty equal, but yes you say that keaf is a bit closer, as it is a top leaf and reaches up a bit, too. attached pic :bowing:) |
I was feeding it with the ‘MSU formula’ granular - 1tsp per gallon. today and for a while i’ve used water only. fyi, when i water, because of my medium, it runs right through, quite well.
|
It's probably not a fertilizer issue. Unless it gets soft or sunken, I'd worry about something else.
