Coelogyne tomentosa blooming
Also known as Coelogyne massangeana...the spike and blooms open really fast, in about a week.
Blooms are fragrant. This is a large plant, but if we consider their potencial, this one is considered small. I only discovered what orchid is this one year ago 'cause it has never bloomed before. I always thought is was a Xylobium. Added a photo of when I received it as a gift from my parents as a souvenir from Madeira Islands where they went for vacations. Enjoy... https://i.postimg.cc/8zhpWjkc/20200426-110849.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/43PXLq9T/20200426-110941.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/nzLp6249/20200426-111038.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/BbLsvvwq/20200426-115114.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/V6Hm1tgG/Xylob-1.jpg |

My friend, another beauty. Clearly we live too far apart.

Another spike...this one is going to get big. :)

That is really interesting. It looks braided. Very cool. The ruffles on the lip almost seem to mimic the braiding on the spike.

It is a lovely bloom. The brown coloring is striking, but the "transparent" striping on the white petals really sets it apart for me!
