I bought this in 2012 I've never really had good luck growing it and I'm not entirely sure what it is any help would be appreciated

Boy, I'm not sure what that is but it looks healthy to me. Anytime I see new white/green roots I'm happy with what's going on.
A couple comments I will make;
1) glass marbles? I see maybe a couple clay balls in there but anything else? I'm not criticizing btw, just trying to understand what's going on. It is definitely an epiphyte/lithophyte so not the worst media to use.....depending on the rest of your cultural criteria and practices of course.
2) I would say by the color of the leaves and knowing it's likely a high light plant that it needs way more light than it has been getting. This is also the most likely reason you haven't had any blooms.

I'm sure others with much better diagnostic skills will chime in.

The marbles are just for decoration on top underneath is just lava rock

The more I look at that the more I think it may be a Schomburgkia or something related to that.

“Mule ear” oncidium, perhaps?

Afid 03-30-2020 02:33 PM

Looks like a trichocentrum/mule-ear oncidium to me.
