Hi friends,
I sure hope you are all well and safe. ❤️🙏 Here’s an update with 2 pictures. My second/bonus bloom of 21-22 flowers is down to 6 remaining. A new leaf; a root forming — look close, laying atop yellowing leaf. And, the yellowing/dying leaf, which i believe is 100% natural/healthy. My first and only orchid, we went through quite the spectrum since i got it last Sept. Orchid 1 - Google Photos :bowing |
G'day mate, looks good, but I would advise upgrading to a bigger pot, or, better still, a hollow log using the same type potting mixture you have for those. The log need only be 3"wider and deeper.
Never let the growing medium dry out completely. Cheers, Bobj. |

Hello,
I hope you are all well, during this pandemic. 🙏🏼 All the flowers are gone now. I have a nice new leaf, a lower one died off, and new roots kinda all over. I don't think I can get a bigger pot right now, perhaps soon. Should I leave the spike and its various arms? |
I'm not sure why it was suggested to move it to a bigger pot, it looks fine and happy in the pot it's in now, especially as you've only recently repotted it. Phals tend to do better in the smallest pot they'll comfortably fit into, so overpotting one is rarely a good idea. I would leave it as it is.
Leaving or cutting the spike now is up to you. You can leave it and wait for it to turn yellow by itself, or cut it off now if you prefer. |
thanks Camille! :bowing
stay safe! :( |
