Peristeria elata growth cycle
I have a friend who has little experience with Orchids, however she was so taken with this plant that she bought one. I've given her the best advice I can, and the best I can find online, but I don't grow this one, so I can only do so much. She lives in Oklahoma City. It's still a little too cold to put it outside there, so she has it by a sunny window, but within a few weeks, she should be able to move it outside.
She's only had the plant for a few weeks, but so far it still looks good, but she is wondering when she should expect to see the new growth forming. When do these come out of their winter rest? She's worried that it isn't doing anything yet, but I told to her be patient, Orchids are slow plants, but for anybody go grows this, about when do you start to see the new growths starting? |
I don't grow this plant so have no first hand insight for you. I've beem searching the forum for information, but so far there is no mention about when these start to wake up.
Bud gives some pretty detailed information about culture here, and there is good information in the rest of the thread: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...risteria+Elata In another old thread someone noticed a new growth right around this time of year: Peristeria elata new growth?. Keep in mind that this likely varies, so growths can also occur several weeks before or after this! I hope she is aware that this is NOT an easy orchid to flower. |
