these plants crack me up..they are always in exact symmetry, but that means they are growing backwards to one another. I find that amazing and quite cool to look at. They also resemble antlers on a mount which also amuses me...… i am a simple person https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e08ebcc_4k.jpgNodosa by J Solo, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...79e2eac_4k.jpgNodosa by J Solo, on Flickr the leaves are amazing but they aren't the show right now |
Great looking Phals! I love this hybrid, though I don't have one myself since there always seems to be another orchid higher up on the wishlist that I'll buy first.
What are they growing in? It looks like pantyhose? |
bingo!! it is a pine 2x2 that they are mounted too. I have a new experiment to make a wetter mount and this iteration is a pantyhose filled with shredder mulch then tied around the outside of the root ball...my alternative on the traditional method of using sphag.
the mulch seems to stay wet for a few days |
So I wasn't imagining things, pantyhose it is! That is a rather creative set-up. Is the shredder mulch more long lasting than sphag, or are you having to replace it at similar intervals?
|
it does, i also find that it does not get to the point of dry where it becomes unruly...i do not like sphag for anything other than bulbos
|
I had one of those but it died on me. Love the leaves. Maybe I'll have to try the pantyhose method.
