This bloom opened at the same time my dialaelia did. I don't know the origin for the iwanagara name, its flower looks pretty close to the dialaelia to me. Oh well, hope you enjoy.

I currently have this one in bloom too. I love the shape and color of the flowers

Kruger: Very pretty, love it!

Subrosa: Thanks for showing all of the color variations.

What are the cultural requirements for these?

I have several different clones of the cross, but not this one. I grow in typical Cattleya conditions and find them to be easy growers and reliable bloomers, with the exception of my 'Hihimanu' clone. I got it in bud from Kawamoto's a few years and it bloomed nicely, but since then it has grown but hasn't bloomed. From where I would expect spikes to firm it has grown new pseudobulbs, similar to a keikei, but they never develop roots. However it is now in early spike, so I'm hopeful it will grow and bloom normally from now on.

Mine just fully opened up today and I was happy to find it had a light but significant floral fragrance. I was expecting this variety to not have fragrance based on what others have said. I'll chalk it up to genetic variation as I know most other cultivars have a definitive scent.

Out of all the clones of this cross I've seen only one wasn't fragrant. It was one I got as a Better Gro bag baby, labeled either 'C' or 'CC', I can't remember which. The fragrances do vary greatly, from a nice floral scent to a strong smell of roses.

Beautiful flower! It's a very nice yellow and looks a lot like a daffodil before clicking and expanding the thumbnail image.
I wasn't even aware that this hybrid had a yellow version, I only know the standard white with pink blush version.

I love that spectacular saturated yellow! I have one that is light yellow with some pink. http://orchidcentral.org/Images/Catt...%20Blossom.jpg

Amazing variation in this grex!

Amazing variation in this grex!

Where does all the variation come from? Does it have a parent with a lot of color variation, affecting offspring color depending with which one you make the cross?
