Orchid Record Keeping - Excel Template/s?

I'm hoping one of the forum's members will either have or know where I can get an Excel Template for Orchids. I tried an Orchid Access Data Base and for me it is overkill. I am trying to avoid starting from scratch with Excel to generate my own. I looked at the available software packages on the net and they are anywhere from $30.00 to $250.00 and either complicated or designed for growers. Any help will be appreciated. As always thanks for the help. Regards.

I know there are several here using Excel databases for orchids. You should see a response sometime.

I can send you a copy of mine if you want - I got it from Gwen a little while ago. Check your private messages.

I seriously have to ask this. Are you an engineer by chance? My dad is one and he makes excel charts for EVERYTHING. Just curious. Do you just use them for tracking waterings or things or are you going to go hardcore with lots of info?

Blondie, Thanks for the response. No I am not an engineer, but I have worked most of my adult life for engineering firms doing business with DOD, Airlines etc. Working in Procurement and Contracts, Excel sheets come in quite handy. Using an Excel sheet for three or four orchids would probably be an exercise in futility. I started with 3I'm up to 15. I need to get a handle on my plants, therefore the spread. It will be as detailed as necessary to insure the plants do well. Thanks again.

Ha! Well, truth be told, I thought about creating an excel sheet when I only had one because I was so scared of killing it!! I can see how they would be very useful for larger collections--especially ones from many different varieties. Good luck and I hope you found a good one!

I would think a spreadsheet would be very useful to record things like when it was repotted, when it bloomed, what vendor you bought it from, how often you fertilized.

I have a ms works spreadsheet that I put together myself with all of our orchids on it. I use exel at work all the time. I use it to track what I have, when I bought it, where I bought it, price paid for it, when it blooms, and when I repotted it. Also keep track of the ones we've lost. waaah!

It's great to track them to see how your collection grows, and when they will bloom. My wife thinks it's a little weird, but I love keeping up with them. Good luck with yours.

This is making me want to buy like 50 orchids and sit around and track them. Mmmmm....orchids.... Sadly, mine would mostly say:

Orchid still not doing anything. Check.
